TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — The Greenwood Women’s Business Center unveiled its newly renovated facility this morning.
The facility, which is located in the historical Greenwood District downtown, is one of the last buildings standing after the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.
A centerpiece in the initiative is to “help rebuild Black Wall Street” by preserving the legacy of the district.
The Greenwood Women’s Business Center is a nonprofit organization in partnership with Greenwood Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Black Chambers, Inc., and the Small Business Administration.
The center officers multiple resources, designed to support women business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs in achieving success.
The event provided an opportunity to network, with guest speakers, refreshments, tours, and visits by Tulsa Drillers mascot Hornsby and Oklahoma State University mascot Pistol Pete.
“As one of 140 Women Business Centers across the country, it is fitting that we celebrate Women’s History Month with a new center focused on the business and entrepreneurial needs of diverse women. We couldn’t be more excited for our upcoming event,” said Alisa Joseph, vice president of USBC Community Economic Development Corporation.
