Working for Change: Engaging Black Businesses through Social Media

The U.S. Black Chamber, Inc. launches new Social Media Campaign: “Working for Change: Engaging  Black Businesses through Social Media.”

(Washington DC, Monday, November 26, 2012) – The U.S. Black Chamber, Inc. (USBC) is excited to announce the launch of our new and innovative Social Media Campaign, “Working for Change: Engaging Black Businesses through Social Media.” In today’s global economy, it is imperative that we enhance our outreach efforts and lead the way in promoting Black businesses. This campaign will expand USBC’s current social network footprint on Facebook and Twitter, and initiate a new presence on LinkedIn. USBC’s new campaign will innovatively engage its current and prospective stakeholders and community partners through targeted messaging and robust information sharing.

To lead this effort, USBC has made a strategic decision to bring on Ms. Traci DeShazor as our first Social Media Coordinator. Traci’s has a background in Politics, Policy, and Innovative Social Strategies. As a part of the Obama for America-VA team she used inventive social media strategies in her capacity as the Director of Training and Internships which ultimately helped lead the President’s re-election efforts for the state of Virginia to victory. With the help of our team, Traci has developed a full-scale metric driven implementation plan. The Campaign will spotlight our five pillars of service of Advocacy, Access to capital, Contracting, Entrepreneur training, and Chamber development. Moving forward, we will tell the personal story of the USBC.

It is because of our chambers and small business affiliates that we’re able to execute our mission of providing committed, visionary leadership and advocacy in the realization of economic empowerment. The USBC is thrilled to partner with each of our chambers and small businesses and we look forward to highlighting their contributions to the community through our Social Media Campaign. USBC encourages its members to proactively participate in the Campaign by first, “liking” the USBC Facebook page and sharing content from the page; following and retweeting USBC on Twitter; and joining and interacting with its LinkedIn Group. We look forward to participation from our members in this effort as we take our vision of increasing our capacity to serve to new heights through the use of innovative social media.
